eMaint Travels to Las Vegas for the Reliability 2.0 Conference

4Did you know that 3 steps can transform dowtime to uptime? Gene Pargas, eMaint Vice president of Strategic Accounts, and Boy Helm, Maintenance Manager at Cardinal CG and eMaint X3 user do!

When “run to failure” is the de facto standard operating procedure in a maintenance operation, no less than a cultural transformation is required. At the April 8-12 Reliability 2.0 conference in Las Vegas, Gene Pargas partnered with Boyd Helm to share just how they made that happen.

When Helm first joined the Buford, GA, plant of Cardinal Glass, employees were working 24/7, three serious accidents had occurred in just 30 days, and – although no one was tracking it precisely — critical equipment was down 15% of the time. Then he implemented eMaint’s X3 CMMS, and with the company’s support, initiated a culture-change campaign.

The results: Downtime was pared to less than 1%, average daily production had increased more than 40% and employees were working 43% fewer hours.

“The challenges Boyd faced when he first sought out eMaint are not unique,” says Pargas. “Many maintenance operations simply don’t have a ‘preventive culture,’ in large part because they don’t have the data to support it.”

In their April 11th workshop — titled “You’ve Turned Downtime Upside Down: Now What?” Gene and Boyd offered a step-by-step guide to help other companies facing the same challenges. The conference, was sponsored by ReliabilityWeb.com and is designed to empower professionals responsible for asset care, reliability and maintenance by providing a forum focused on information that facilitates high performance.
